We are over the moon to finally start planting at our new woodland site a few miles south of Bristol and near the village of Pensford. We have purchased over 100 acres of land and with your help we will plant and care for 40,000 trees. This is by far our most ambitious project to date and we are so glad you are up for helping.
By volunteering with us, you'll learn the techniques for planting native tree saplings (we will be planting over 30 different species at Great Avon Wood). Come and find out the project and explore our new site. All are welcome. No experience necessary!
Please make sure you are registered as a volunteer with us before you book on a volunteer day. Please complete the form via the link on our website: https://avonneedstrees.org.uk/volunteering/volunteer-registration/
Children are welcome over the age of 9 years, accompanied by an adult. Please complete the Under 18 Supervision Form if you are bringing children. For little ones under the age of 9, please book into one of our family days instead.
Directions to the site as well as practical details for the day will be sent out in a confirmation email when you have signed up. A good reference point is the Traveller’s Rest pub (BS39 4JF) which is on the A37 just north of Pensford. Buses (376 and 379) run from the bus station in Bristol and the nearest stop is Gibbet Lane. From here you can walk down Blackrock Lane to the access point for the site.
Please be aware that due to preserving the biodiversity at our woodlands there are no hard-standing paths and we are not able to allow dogs on site (except assistance dogs).
