About this event

From clay pipes to pocket watches, hair combs to slippers, hundreds of personal items were found during HS2 excavations at St James’s Burial Ground, near Euston. These objects tell the stories of individual people and reveal how the dead were commemorated and remembered. They also give fascinating details of life in London during a time of rapid urbanisation and social change.

Join MOLA finds specialist Michael Marshall, as we present some of these fascinating artefacts to the public for the very first time. As part of this 30 minute workshop you'll have the chance to get closer to the finds, speak directly to our archaeologists about the excavations and even create your own commemorative seal, based on Victorian examples found during excavations.
