Food-inspired online writing workshop with Sean Wai Keung
How can food-writing be used to portray place, identity and heritage, while also fighting against stereotypes and cliché? In this workshop we will look at how food can be used as a doorway to talk about other topics, focussing beyond the senses and instead looking at the roles that cooking and eating play in culture, family, and politics. We'll look primarily at poetry, memoir and recipe forms, and engage in a handful of various prompts and techniques, in a relaxed and comfortable online space.
This workshop will be facilitated by Sean Wai Keung, a poet and performance-maker specialising in food-related topics. His poetry collection sikfan glaschu (Verve Poetry Press) was shortlisted for the Kavya Prize 2022 and he's also written about food for places like the Vittles newsletter.
