Ticket sales have ended

All tickets have now been sold for this session. We apologise for any disappointment you may have and hope to see you at another event in 2024! If you would like to be added to a 'wait list' in case of a short notice request to cancel, please contact carrie.pearson@cycscouts.org.uk, stating which session(s) your young person would like to attend and also providing a best contact number as we may send a message as well as email for speed. It is unlikely a significant number of places will become available, but if they are, places will be offered on a first-come first served basis with a short deadline for accepting the place before it is offered to the next person on the list. We wish you a wonderful festive period! Festive Funday Team!

About this event

Thank you for your interest in the Festive Fundays for 2023 - we can’t wait to see your Squirrel/Beaver/Cub there!

The event follows a similar format to previous years, but with tweaks to make it even better. Attendees will be put in small groups of up to 13 young people (providing you choose the correct group, we will do our best to make sure they are in a group with their friends) and each group will have the opportunity to take part in each of the following activities: festive baking, festive crafts, making a s'more followed by a festive treasure hunt / trail and games, adventurous activities and visiting the grotto where they will take part in a silent disco and meet Santa before all gathering together for a scouting festive campfire sing-a-long.

Each attendee will receive a present from Santa and also a Festive Funday 2023 badge for their camp blanket.

The total cost is £15 per person, including booking fee of £1.96 which is paid direct to eventbrite.

Please note there are up to 125 spaces available per session and the last date for bookings is 30 November 2023 for the Festive Funday team to complete the planning and preparation for the event.

Frequently asked questions

What to wear:

Please ensure that your young person wears suitable outdoor clothing/footwear, appropriate for the weather. Activities will take place indoors and outdoors so make sure that they wrap up warm and bring waterproof clothing. Uniform is not required apart from a necker. Festive clothing is welcome!

What to bring:

We strongly encourage that young people bring a named water bottle with them - we will provide facilities for this to be filled throughout the session. Please ensure that anything they bring is named.

Will there be snacks / food?

We will not be providing any substantial snacks throughout the sessions. If you believe your young person may need a snack, please pack one for them which they will keep with them. Please do not send sweets or fizzy drinks or any food containing nuts.

Why do you require dietary requirement / allergy information?

Whilst we will not be providing any substantial snack, young people will take part in festive baking and also make (and eat, if they would like) a S'more. Therefore it is essential we are aware of this information so we can cater for all requirements.

Does or can a parent / guardian have to stay with each young person?

No. This event is organised on the basis that young people are dropped off. If your young person will benefit from a parent / guardian staying, please contact carrie.pearson@cycscouts.org.uk to discuss further.

Does my young person's scout leader have to be in attendance?

No. We appreciate that December is a busy month for everyone, including scout leaders. However, we are asking for leaders to volunteer to support the event, where they are able. We hope that we will have enough volunteers so that young people can attend, even if their leaders are unable to.

My young person has medication. Is this okay?

Yes. Please ensure you have notified us in advance that medication will be brought. Please hand this in on registration where our first aider will look after it throughout the event. Please ensure the medication is named and has clear instructions regarding how to administer it.

I am a leader / parent attending, do I also need to sign up and pay?

No. We are extremely grateful for all adult volunteers giving their time to support so we can make Festive Funday happen. If you are a volunteer, please do not fill in this form but please complete the volunteer sign up form and / or contact carrie.pearson@cycscouts.org.uk.

As a parent/adult, can I stay onsite rather than dropping my young person off and collecting later?

If you would prefer to stay onsite, we ask that you stay to help with one of the groups or activities. There is no facility for adults to stay onsite whilst waiting for your young person to attend the event. Please contact carrie.pearson@cycscouts.org.uk to discuss further.
