WHAT WILL I GET FROM THIS WORKSHOP?

You will take away a collection of cyanotype experiments, with the option to bind them into a book. Refreshments are provided.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

In this workshop you will explore the process of cyanotypes, a cameraless form of photography that uses UV light to transform an iron compound chemical into striking blue and white images. We will use this workshop to experiment with ordinary household chemicals, and how we can manipulate and exploit the process to create extraordinary and unusual abstract images. Everything you need is provided, and cyanotype kits are available to purchase so you can continue the process at home.

Y ou can either do this workshop as a follow on from the Botanical Cyanotypes workshop, or on its own for those who are interested in photography as a form of mark making and pattern building.

WHO IS MY TUTOR?

Short & Few runs creative workshops in Ilkley, including printmaking, alternative photography and bookmaking. It is run by Zoe, a qualified and experienced art tutor currently teaching at a specialist arts university in Leeds. My background is in graphic design and typography, but over the years I have developed a deep interest in process-driven arts and hands-on analogue practices. I am a big believer in learning by doing and making mistakes as a form of enquiry, an ethos which underpins my teaching. I love the buzz of seeing what people make when they least expect it, and inspiring people to develop a curiosity for what the arts can be about. Cyanotypes really do feel like magic when you see the process unfold.
