🇮🇩 Discover Indonesia is an annual event held by Indonesian Student Society across Newcastle and Sunderland. It is the most awaited event and a melting pot for locals, international students and Indonesian diasporas. With our sincerest love for our hometown, we wanted to introduce how beautiful our culture, music, traditional dance, and country with a little modern twist through musical drama✨. Other than that, we will also hold a food bazaar with many asian food staples🤤
Our this year’s theme will be SANDIKALA. It comes from a Sanskrit term ‘SAN•DHYA•KALA’ to describe the reddening sky during sunrise and sunset, San-Dhya-Kala🌅. San means good, respect, and devotion; Dhya means knowledge, meditation, or reflection; Kala means time, season, and condition.
