David Holmes is a highly regarded DJ, producer and award-winning film composer, whose deep musical knowledge informs every aspect of his work.
DJing in Belfast clubs since he was 14 years old, he began releasing his first techno and house singles in the early 90s, before his ambitious first album, This Film's Crap, Let's Slash The Seats, introduced the cinematic scope of his production that came to define his style - a style that grew even more evident in the New York-inspired next record, Let's Get Killed. As David moved into scoring films such as Steve McQueen’s ‘Hunger’, and Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight and Ocean's Eleven series, he combined the sampling he'd become renowned for in his production, with the pace and rhythms of his releases & compilations, and the keen sense of mood, atmosphere and place honed through decades of club DJing.
As he has moved further in to film work, he continued to release constant style-shifting albums, from 2008's Holy Pictures through to his most recent record, Blind on a Galloping Horse, while completing other notable projects, including composing scores for lead television shows such as The Fall and Killing Eve, and producing Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers, John Spencer Blues Explosion, Orbital and most recently, Sinead O'Connor's final album.
