Love your clothes

This week is Fashion Revolution week and this year's theme is 'How to be a Fashion Revolutionary'

We believe you can be a fashion revolutionary by loving your clothes and understanding your relationship with them, you can love the planet too.

The fashion industry accounts for about 8-10% of the world's carbon emissions and nearly 20% of wastewater. And while the environmental impact of flying is now well known, fashion sucks up more energy than both aviation and shipping combined.

This month we are joined by three women who have dedicated much of their careers to ethical and sustainable fashion:

Jo Godden, Circular Textile developer and founder of Ruby Moon, sustainable & ethical swimwear and activewear

Jules Hau, owner of Circle preloved clothing store, has 20 years of experience working in fashion and ethical fashion. Jules served on the Fashion Revolution advisory board and led workshops and seminars at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion.

Christine Gent, WFTO Fair Trade Expert for MADE51 and Global Network Director for Fashion Revolution. Christine was a director of WFTO Asia 2014 to 2017, and European Project management for Fair Trade Organisations in the UK, Japan and Switzerland. Ethical Trade Manager for The Body Shop. and was founder of Fairly Covered and FAIR (shop).

We will discuss how rethinking our relationship with our clothing can positively impact the planet and women around the world working in the fashion supply chain.

Our monthly circle is an informal setting that allows us to connect and discuss positive climate stories, share what we are doing, and find ways to support each other moving forward. Each meeting we share who we are, what we would like from the circle and what we can offer, we spend time discussing our projects, passions, thoughts and close the circle by pledging future positive actions. We build an ever-growing network of connection and support.

The event starts at 6.30pm, but feel free to come down from 6pm, you be able to browse the preloved clothing, sustainable gifts and jewellery and meet beforehand.
