About this event

  • 2 hours

Today, the Burton Street Foundation is a thriving centre providing creative disability services for people from all around Sheffield. It's a colourful, fun place to be. It was built as Langsett Road School in 1879, surrounded by back-to-back housing and Sheffield's steel industry, giving an education to many of Hillsborough's poorest children.

A century later, the old terraced houses were demolished and the school closed in 1976. The old school buildings also faced the wrecking ball until they were rescued by the local community and even gained fame as a filming location in the Full Monty before being modernised and becoming the home for our disability services.

But the past lives on at Burton Street. Many sightings of ghosts, apparitions and poltergeists have been reported by people working at and visiting the building. Find out more on our spooky tour and you might even see a ghost yourself!
