About this event

  • 8 hours

We are excited to have Saturday 8th June set aside to be led by Sharon Garlough Brown as she shares Jesus' invitation to "come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." It will be a day of slowing down and practising disciplines that help us keep in step with the unhurried rhythm of Jesus. These practices include breath prayer, lectio divina, Sabbath and silence.

Sharon is the author of the Sensible Shoes series. Ladies in our church have been blessed by her ministry and are longing to share that blessing with a wider audience. There will be worship, opportunites for prayer and time to take some space from routine.

Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day but please bring your own packed lunch. There is a take away next to church and town/Morrisons is only a 10 minute walk for those prefering to go and buy something.

Through lunchtime and before session 3 St. Andrew's bookshop will be hosting a stall and Sharon's books will be available for purchase. There will be quiet spaces open for reflection, prayer collage will be on offer, self-guided walks from the church will be available, our church cafe will be open for hot drinks and cakes (all at £1 each) you can bring your knitting/crochet or colouring to spend time on and Sharon will be book signing.

A packed lunch, a pen and notebook, your bible and an open heart.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The primary events are all on one level and there is an accessible toilet. Blue Badge parking is adjacent to the building. We have a hearing loop in the main building and if you have any other needs please do not hesitate to contact us so we can help you in the best way possible.

How do I get to the venue?

The church is a 10 minunte walk from bus and rail links. For those coming by car we have plenty of parking and a steward will advise you as you arrive.

Can dietary requirements be accomodated?

There will be a variety of snacks including nut and gluten free options.

Do I need to read Sharon's books before coming?

Not at all but we suspect you might well want to after the day.

Who can attend?

This is a women only event for over 16s. Every woman is welcome but it will be overtly Christian. The Bible and Christian teaching will be at the very centre of the day. Come on your own or in a group - all demoninations or no denomination are welcome.
