About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

🧡 You're Invited! to Thriving at The Hive 🧡

We warmly invite disabled and neurodivergent people to join us at Moseley Hive for a facilitated session focused on accessibility, creativity, and thriving in community spaces. Together we’ll explore what makes a space welcoming, and how we at Moseley Hive can better understand and meet the needs of all who use it.

We will be holding two sessions this month – you’re welcome to join both or just one. If you’re coming alone and would like to connect with someone when you arrive, please ask for Rhiannon who will greet you and show you into the space.

🗓 Sunday 18th May, 2pm to 4pm (with a break)

🗓 Wed 21st May 7pm to 9pm (with a break)

📍 Moseley Hive, 93A Alcester Road, B13 8DD

This relaxed session will include:

🌟 Time to settle in and connect

🎨 A creative activity exploring what you'd like others to know about your disability—decorate or embellish an item you use every day as a way to express and share your story

🍎 Fresh fruit, savoury snacks, and hot & cold drinks provided throughout

👶 Children are welcome, with suitable activities available—please let us know if you're bringing little ones or young people

💬 Our goal is to listen, connect, and learn how we at Moseley Hive can grow as an accessible, inclusive space where everyone feels they belong.

Accessibility:

Access to the Building

  • Level Access: The entrance to Moseley Hive is step-free and wheelchair & mobility scooter accessible. The whole space is on one level.
  • Front Door: Our front door is currently a pull-to door, and we will wedge it open for the beginning of the sessions. We know this door is a barrier to ease of access, and we are actively working on upgrading it.

Facilities and Comfort

  • Access Support: We have fidget toys, ear defenders and visual aids to support a range of sensory and communication needs. Please ask a member of staff or a volunteer if you'd like to use these.
  • Drinks & Refreshments: Hot drinks and drinking water are available throughout the session– help yourself or ask if you need assistance.
  • Seating Options: We offer a mix of seating arrangements, including padded banquette seating and moveable chairs, to accommodate different needs and preferences.
  • Lighting & Sound: Lighting inside the building is generally bright and even. We will not have any background music on during these sessions. If you are sensitive to sound or light, please let us know when you arrive and will we try to support you to be comfortable.

Transport and Parking

  • Public Transport: Moseley Hive is well-served by local bus routes, including the 1, 35, and 50, with stops nearby on Alcester Road.
  • Drop-Off Point: There is a safe drop-off point directly outside the building for taxis or accessible transport.
  • Parking:
    • On-Street Parking: Limited on-street parking is available nearby. Blue Badge holders may park on double yellow lines where safe and appropriate.
