The dot.com boom of the early 2000s, and the rise of Web 2.0 and subsequent development of social media were huge events of their time, and although we didn’t really know it, we were living through a period of substantial change, not only for the Internet, but in our own professional work. These developments will seem as nothing in comparison to the rise of Artificial Intelligence.
AI is quite literally going to change everything. From Internet Search to the way the Internet works at a fundamental level, through to the way people do their jobs, be they doctors, lawyers, marketeers, copywriters, artists and educators. At the forefront of this change will be the way that information professionals work. It’s been said that ‘AI will take people’s jobs’, but this is incorrect. People will find their jobs in jeopardy from people who use AI.
This Power Hour is going to provide you with an introduction to everything AI. It’s going to be a real opportunity to see AI in action and see how you can use it to develop, change and improve your daily work, and indeed your own career.
What’s a Power Hour?
Power Hour training is designed to give you exactly 60 minutes of high-value content. Delegates may ask questions in the chat log, but these questions will be addressed via email after the session. Each delegate will also receive a PowerPoint presentation which covers all the main points mentioned in the session.
This power hour will cover:
• How ChatGPT can be used in a work environment to allow you to create articles, blog posts, quizzes, re-write content, produce training courses, create events and more. (We will only briefly touch on its use in search however, as that is going to be extensively covered in another power hour).
• Other AI writing tools that will help you summarise written work, but which can also be used to transcribe YouTube videos and give you key summaries.
• How AI tools can be used to create new and exciting presentations, leaving behind the rather staid and traditional PowerPoint slides
• How art is being affected by AI tools such as Stable Diffusion and how graphics can be created literally within seconds for use in other projects
• How AI can take written content and turn it into other forms of media
• The use of AI in recruitment and finding new jobs
• AI in education – how to utilise AI to provide children with a new way to learn, and also discuss the way that education has to change to adapt to the new AI world
• New developments in AI as they are happening to keep you right at the front of this new wave of developments.
The world of AI is developing at a rate faster than anything I’ve ever seen before, and everyone is going to be affected by it. The role of the information professional is going to be incredibly important here in order to assist users and guide the development and implementation of new forms of AI within the organisation.
