Welcome to the Ahakista Open Water Swim!
The Ahakista Community Association will be hosting its second open water swim on the 7th of September 2024, in aid of West Cork Rapid Response .
Two course distances are available to cater for all swimming abilities. For the more serious swimmers a 2km course from Ahakista pier out around Oilean Eoghain and back will be set. For the progressing swimmers a 500m course from the pier out around a marker in the bay will be set.
Registration is from 12:00 - 14:15
A Mandatory Safety briefing begins at 14:30
All entries are to be made on line. No monies will be taken on the day.
OPTION 1: Oilean Eoighain Challenge.
Distance: 2km swim for advance swimmers.
Registration: 12:00 - 14:15 at the cabin.
Mandatory Safety Briefing: 14:30.
Start Time: 16:00 (follows the 500m swim).
Entry Cap: 150.
Entry Fee: €20 (no refunds available).
Adult only ( Over 18 only)
OPTION 2: Kitchen Cove Challenge.
Distance: 500m swim for progressing swimmers.
Registration: 12:00 - 14:15 at the cabin.
Mandatory Safety Briefing: 14:30.
Start Time: 15:00.
Entry Cap: 150.
Entry Fee: €20 (no refunds available).
Adults Only (Over 18)
Safety
· Please ensure you are practiced at swimming these distances prior to registering for the event.
· The swims will be supported by several powered rescue craft and multiple Kayaks.
· Wet suits and swim float are highly recommended but not essential.
· A safety briefing will be emailed to all participants a week before the event.
