About this event

  • 4 hours 30 minutes

Join us for an epic day of adventure at Wild Heart Hill as we immerse ourselves in the mystical world of Odin's wolves.

This magical family day out will feature spellbinding tales of the Norse gods, tug-of-war, archery and, of course, the opportunity to meet and interact with the stars of our stories themselves, Geri and Freki. Odin's two wolf companions will be happy to give you the opportunity to have your photos taken with them and for you to join them on a walk through the woods as their trained handler tells you all about them and answers your wolfie questions. Throughout the day, you'll have the chance to (respectively) interact with the wolves, under the watchful eyes of their experienced handlers. Feel the thrill as you connect with these magnificent creatures, forming a bond that will leave a lasting impression.

Archer, Red Fox, will be there and under his experieinced guidance, you'll have the chance to unleash your inner-archer, test your archery skills and hit the bullseye like a true marksman. Feel the excitement as you release your arrows, aiming for victory!

But the adventure doesn't stop there! Engage in the age old traditional competition of Tug-of-War that will challenge your agility, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Young folks vs adults or perhaps family tribe vs family tribe, gods vs goddesses.

More fun norse stories including the rascally red squirrel, Ratatoskr, who lives on the great tree Yggdrasil and perhaps a dragon tale or two. And what would a viking-era family day be without some foot stomping, hearty singing? Oh... and food, of course.

Local Spudshack man, Rick, will be on hand serving up delicious jacket potatoes with various fillings (prices from £5-£7.50) and will be able to quench your thirst with a selection of cold or hot drinks. (not included in ticket price)

Please feel free to dress up for the occasion in your best iron-age outfits, we are! (no sharp blades please) Or perhaps there is a particular Norse god/goddess you would like to emulate. Alternatively just come along as you choose. Please wear suitable footware if you are going to be walking through the woods.

Whether you're an animal lover, a nature enthusiast, or simply seeking an amazing day out, this event is perfect for you. So, gather your friends and family, and join us for A Wild Day Out with Odin's Wolves at the breathtaking Wild Heart Hill!

NB - We ask that all dogs on site be kept on a lead while the wolves are about. Not because they are dangerous but because they will be distracted and want to play.

Camping facilities are available, please contact Jose at Wild Heart Hill , be sure to mention that you are attending the skaldic event.

Frequently asked questions

Is the area wheelchair accessible?

The main event field is, although grassy. This is where the story telling, tug-of-war and food will be. The archery area is up in a small side field. The way is a little steep but be have managed to get small wheelchairs up there in the past. You would be unable to do the wolf walk and talk.

Is there parking on site?

Yes there is although limited to about 25 cars. Parking is on a first come first served basis. Alternative parking would be at the Findon Garden Centre and walk along the footpath through the field, approximately a 15 minute walk. Please do not attempt to walk along the main road, Long Furlong.

My children are a bit fussy with food and drink, can I bring food/drink for them?

Absolutely.

Are the wolves safe to be around with children?

The wolves are highly trained acting 'wolf-dogs', saying that, they are animals and need to be treated with respect. They are larger and stronger than a domesticated pooch however, just as loving, gentle and kind especially around children. They are part of the wolf pack family of Watermill Wolves.

Can children join in with the archery?

Yes they can, Red Fox aka, John, is experieinced in working with children and showing them how to safely enjoy archery.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, however - We ask that while the wolves are about that all dogs be kept on a lead. Not because the wolves are dangerous but they will be distracted and want to play. Equally, your dog might not take kindly to the wolves which could potentially be a problem.
