We are excited to announce that this year’s speaker for the prestigious Tanner Lecture on Human Values is the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. Mr Türk has dedicated his career to advancing universal human rights and protecting vulnerable populations, including refugees. Previously, he served as Under-Secretary-General for Policy in the UN Secretary-General’s Executive Office.
In addition to his impact at UNHCR, including leading the development of the landmark Global Compact on Refugees, Mr Türk holds a doctorate in international law from the University of Vienna and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Linz, Austria. He has also published extensively on international refugee and human rights law.
