Palmhurst

While Palmhurst itself is quiet, there's no shortage of events and things to do in the greater Rio Grande Valley, with most of the action centered in nearby McAllen. The region's calendar is a dynamic mix of large-scale entertainment at modern arenas and intimate shows in historic downtown theaters. Activity pulses through the 17th Street Entertainment District after dark, while community festivals and farmers markets define the daytime scene.

• McAllen's 17th Street Entertainment District is the go-to for nightlife, offering a walkable strip of bars and clubs including The Flying Walrus and the country music hall Hillbilly's.
• Major concerts, sporting events, and family shows fill the calendars at large venues like Bert Ogden Arena and H-E-B Park in Edinburg.
• Cultural happenings range from local productions by groups like the South Texas Players to the McAllen Art Walk, a monthly self-guided tour of local galleries.
