The scene is spread across charming small towns, from the historic streets of Jim Thorpe to the jazz clubs of the Delaware Water Gap. Activity in the region flows with the seasons, with many venues and attractions catering to weekend visitors and vacationers.

• For a classic night out, head to the Delaware Water Gap for dinner and a show at the Deer Head Inn, one of the country's oldest continuously running jazz clubs.
• Catch national touring acts at the mountaintop Penn's Peak venue in Jim Thorpe or see a concert at the nonprofit Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg.
• Discover local culture at the Shawnee Playhouse for live theater, or check the schedule at the Pocono Cinema & Cultural Center for independent films and art shows.
