Boomer

There's no shortage of community-focused events and things to do in Boomer, NC. Most of the area's cultural activity is centered in the twin towns of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro, where Appalachian traditions of music and craft are regularly celebrated. The local scene is defined by family-friendly gatherings, free outdoor concerts, and a palpable small-town charm.

• Downtown North Wilkesboro offers a lively atmosphere, particularly within its Social District, where an evening can flow from the Wilkes Art Gallery to a local music performance at The Lost Wombat or a Concert on the Deck at the Yadkin Valley Marketplace.
• Across the river, historic downtown Wilkesboro provides a more relaxed pace centered on the Carolina West Wireless Community Commons, which hosts outdoor concerts and movies for all ages near the Wilkes Heritage Museum.
• The region's deep musical roots are on full display during MerleFest, an acclaimed multi-day folk and bluegrass festival held each spring on the campus of Wilkes Community College.
