Cortland

There's no shortage of events and things to do in Cortland, IL, particularly given its close proximity to the cultural hubs of DeKalb and Sycamore. The region’s rhythm is shaped by Northern Illinois University's academic calendar, seasonal farmers' markets, and major annual festivals. This creates a contrast between the college-town energy of DeKalb and the historic, small-town charm of Sycamore.

• For a classic college town atmosphere, downtown DeKalb offers a lively setting with national touring acts and classic films at the historic Egyptian Theatre.
• A more relaxed pace can be found in downtown Sycamore, where unique venues like Blumen Gardens host seasonal markets and workshops in a rustic setting.
• Local community life in Cortland often revolves around the Cortland Lions Club, the host of the annual Cortland SummerFest and seasonal vendor fairs.
