Liberation Day is one of the most important days in Guernsey’s calendar and commemorates the islands’ freedom from the German Occupation during World War II, which played such a monumental role in shaping both the landscape and the lives of the people of Guernsey. 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Guernsey.Managed by the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture, the celebrations attract thousands of people to the St Peter Port seafront for a day filled with entertainment and activities for all ages. From the church parade and cavalcade to live music, stalls and fireworks, the day truly offers something for every islander.
