The Wendy Walk Leverages Eventbrite to Raise More Money for Cancer Research, Accelerate On-Site Check-in, and Expand Its Reach

Case Study Looks at Success of Charity Walk During the Season of Giving

San Francisco, Calif. – Eventbrite, the world’s largest self-service ticketing and registration platform, has released a new case study outlining how the Wendy Walk has used Eventbrite to raise more money, improve its on-site experience and expand to multiple events.

The Wendy Walk was created in 2010 by Wendy’s three children, Ali, Matt and Jackie to support their mom Wendy in her battle with Liposarcoma. Wendy Walk raises funds and awareness for Sarcoma through events around the country – most notably our walks in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Park City Utah every spring. We focus on staying active and positive, and always remembering Wendy’s motto: “I am not my scans.” To date, Wendy Walk has raised over 2.1 million dollars to fund unique and exciting international cooperative research on sarcoma through partnering with the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.

With Eventbrite, the Wendy Walk:

Used Eventbrite promotional tools to drive more than $30K in sales

Reduced on-site registration time by 70%

Empowered other passionate organizers to host their own Wendy Walk events

Can now take credit cards for donations, raffle tickets and auction items

The full Wendy Walk case study, which can be found here on the Eventbrite Academy, will be of particular interest to race directors currently looking at registration options for a non-profit event in 2016.

About the Wendy Walk

Wendy Walk was founded in 2010 by Ali, Matt, and Jackie Landes to raise funds and awareness for Liposarcoma, a rare form of cancer that their mom, Wendy was diagnosed with. Despite her tragic passing in March of 2013, Wendy’s legacy has been kept alive through the organization and continues to be an inspiration to others battling the disease. With a profoundly personal understanding of how cancer impacts the entire family system, Wendy Walk is committed to helping families cope with the unique challenges sarcoma brings. Wendy Walk works to provide courage, strength and hope to families and patients battling sarcoma through charitable social and athletic events held all over the country. The organizations most notable events are walks which take place each spring in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and Park City. Through the walks, supporters have contributed over 2.2 million dollars in raised funds. The funds raised allows the Wendy Walk to continually fulfill its mission to find and develop new innovative treatments for sarcoma and serve as a valuable resource for those impacted by this rare disease. Wendy Walk continues to send strong messages of hope and encouragement to Sarcoma patients and develop a larger sense of community and eradicate isolation.
