Bay Area Conference Invites Thousands to Answer Obama’s National Call to Service. craigslist.com Founder Craig Newmark, Arianna Huffington and Randi Zuckerberg to Speak.
June 8, 2009: San Francisco – Eventbrite today announced its relationship with the Craigslist Foundation as a sponsor, provider of online event registration services and marketing partner for the 6th Annual Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp. Eventbrite is working with the Craigslist Foundation on this year’s Boot Camp to help maximize attendance and visibility for the historic event happening on June 20th, 2009 in Berkeley, CA.
The Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp is a one-day conference that will bring together thousands of socially-conscious people from all over the world, including representatives from business, government, philanthropy and nonprofits. The over-arching goal of the event is to help connect people to the resources and inspiration they need to effect positive change in their communities. The event program includes instructive workshops on such timely topics as how to take advantage of technology and social media, and fundraising in a down economy. Keynote speakers include craigslist.com Founder Craig Newmark, Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post and Randi Zuckerberg of Facebook. In the past Boot Camp programming has focused primarily on emerging nonprofit leaders, but this year anyone committed to making positive social actions for change will have a place at the Boot Camp.
“This is a critical time for us all to work together to strengthen our communities,” said Arthur Coddington, Senior Program Manager for the Craigslist Foundation. “President Obama has called upon all of us to step up and strive for positive change. This year’s Boot Camp is a perfect place to start for anyone interested in making a difference. We’ve brought together some of the brightest, most passionate people working for good in the country today. You will come away from the 2009 Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp inspired, connected, and ready to act.”
“In 2009, we are shifting our role from capacity-builder for nonprofit professionals to community-builder for all who care about improving our communities and society,” said Lynn Luckow, Executive Director of the Craigslist Foundation. “Nonprofits can’t do it alone. It will take all of us – individuals, government, business, nonprofits, and philanthropy – working together to tackle our biggest challenges and strengthen our communities.”
“We are delighted to be a part of this year’s Craigslist Foundation Boot Camp,” said Kevin Hartz, CEO of Eventbrite. “Eventbrite is a committed supporter of the National Call to Service and the nonprofit sector, and we are honored to be working with the Craigslist Foundation towards the success of such an important event.”
