Eventbrite Powers Tipping Point’s 2010 Benefit

Event Attracts 1500 Attendees, Raises $6 Million for Fund Allocation Amongst Bay Areau2019s Top Nonprofit Programs

May 12, 2010: San FranciscoEventbrite, the fastest growing social commerce company, today announced the success of Tipping Point’s 2010 Benefit event, held Thursday, May 6th at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA.

The event, which featured a performance by six-time Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter John Legend, raised an impressive $6 million, double the amount raised at the same event last year. 100% of the money raised from the event’s nearly 1500 attendees will go to Tipping Point Community, a nonprofit grant network dedicated to finding and funding the most effective Bay Area nonprofits that are aiding local individuals and families in breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving economic self-sufficiency. Tipping Point has raised over $20 million since it was founded in 2005, helping to fund and assist housing, education, family wellness, and employment programs.

Powered by Eventbrite’s event registration, tracking, and management tools, Tipping Point sold nearly 900 tickets to the wildly popular event — selling out their premium dinner and after party tickets weeks in advance of the event, with benefit tables being sold separately.

“Our 2010 Benefit for Tipping Point Community was a fantastic success this year, raising more funds for our grantees than we ever could have hoped for,” said J’aime Law, Communications + Events Associate for Tipping Point. “This is our largest fundraiser of the year, so it’s vital that the entire planning, registration, management, and tracking process go smoothly. With Eventbrite, we were able to set up our event page, integrate it into the homepage of our website, and subsequently track and manage registrations and donations with minimal effort.”

Tipping Point used Eventbrite’s recently announced Eventbrite for Causes program to take advantage of a full suite of event management and promotion tools, non-profit best practices, and a discounted ticket fee developed specifically for nonprofit organizations. The program, launched February 23, 2010, has seen immediate success, with over 600 organizations accepted into the program.

“The success of Tipping Point’s annual fundraiser demonstrates the power and utility of Eventbrite for Causes and our solutions for any organization across the board,” said Kevin Hartz, CEO and co-founder of Eventbrite. “We are ecstatic to be aiding nonprofits like Tipping Point in accomplishing their humanitarian and monetary goals.”
