Eventbrite Introduces New Service that Dramatically Simplifies the Event Management Process
Online Registration Service is the Only Free, Self-Service Offering on the Internet
Kevin Hartz, co-founder and CEO of Eventbrite, launched the online event registration service with his wife, Julia Hartz, and CTO, Renaud Visage. Eventbrite allows organizers for events of all sizes to use self-service and low-cost tools to create an event Web page where attendees can purchase tickets. Event organizers are able to collect money directly from the attendee by using PayPal – the online payment service.
As one of the seed investors of PayPal, Hartz has focused on building payment services leveraging the success of PayPal. After launching Xoom (http://www.xoom.com), a Sequoia Capital-funded international online money remittance service, Hartz co-founded Eventbrite to address online event registration.
“Large event holders currently enjoy advanced tools and technology to better sell out concerts, professional sporting events, and theaters,” said Hartz. “We’re bringing this capability to a wider market of events and event holders, addressing this emerging ‘Long Tail’ of events.”
