Eventbrite Hires VP of International Stephanie Hannon and Launches in Canada and Ireland
San Francisco, Calif. – December 16, 2011 – After opening a London office in October, Eventbrite continues its focus on internationalization and localization by launching www.eventbrite.ca in Canada, www.eventbrite.ie in Ireland, and adding VP of International Stephanie Hannon to the executive team. The company is eager to better serve these communities of organizers and attendees who have already been using the platform to manage and discover events of every size and type. Further expansion will include translation of the site in French, Canadian French, and Spanish in the coming months.
Kevin and Julia Hartz (CEO and President, respectively) and CTO Renaud Visage founded the company in 2006 to serve the large segment of event organizers who never before had access to technologically-sophisticated event organization, promotion and ticketing and registration tools. In 2010, Eventbrite users organized events in 147 countries, which underscores how effectively Eventbrite serves a large, yet unmet, need for an easy-to-use, flexible event management platform.
The company’s focus on innovative product development is reflected in the hiring of Stephanie Hannon, whose fifteen years of product and engineering experience will inform the company’s overall expansion strategy, international operations and vision. In her previous role at Google, Hannon was a leader on the launches of Google Wave, and Google Maps for over 20 countries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She launched Gmail in 35 languages and built the initial version of Google Apps that is now used by over 4 million businesses. She spent five years in Google’s Zurich and Sydney offices where she was integral to the company’s expansion across multiple engineering offices.
“Everything stems from a meaningful local experience,” explains Hannon. “As we expand in 2012, we’ll be following the users—where we see growth, we’ll experiment with rapid iteration to determine how we can best serve every distinct community on our platform.”
In order to maintain the level of service that Eventbrite has become known for, customers in these geographically disparate markets will be serviced by a 24-hour support team working 7 days a week, beginning in the new year.
