Eventbrite bolsters UK office with new Head of EMEA Marketing, Marion Gamel
European expansion continues with senior hire from Google
London, UK – June 29, 2012 – Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk), the online self-service ticketing platform, has hired Marion Gamel as Head of EMEA Marketing to continue to build the company’s brand across the continent. This announcement follows the recent launch of localized offerings in Germany and The Netherlands, and the company’s announcement of facilitating $1 billion in ticket sales, worldwide.
Gamel, a marketer with 20 years of experience from Google, AdLINK and a background in fashion and publishing, will be based in Eventbrite’s growing London office. Marion will be broadening the reach of the company’s European marketing initiatives by engaging and building the community of Eventbrite organizers, focusing on industry-specific event management needs, developing partnerships, and encouraging more and more Europeans to use Eventbrite to discover events in their communities.
Marion’s experience across Europe, the Middle East and Asia will be imperative to us as we continue to bring our offering to people around the world,
says Kevin Hartz, CEO and Co-Founder of Eventbrite. We have been searching for the candidate who reflects our brand and beliefs to spearhead Eventbrite’s European marketing efforts and believe we have found this in Marion.
Gamel, who has most recently been running her own marketing consultancy, worked at Google from 2003 until 2010. Beginning her career at the company as the country marketing manager for the UK and Ireland, Gamel was one of the first marketing hires outside of North America, and a founding member of the European marketing team. Since then she has worked as the head of marketing for Google in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka; South Africa; Middle East and Africa and emerging Eastern European markets.
This is an exciting time to join Eventbrite,
says Gamel. The company has continued its impressive growth throughout 2011 and has positioned itself as a leader in its field. The company has an excellent reputation already, one which I hope to enhance and build upon. It is great to be joining a company that is led by technology and that also has a deep impact on people’s lives.
During her time at Google, Gamel was involved in the product launches of AdSense (B2B), Gmail, Google Maps, Google SMS Search and Google Book Search, developing market entry strategies and advising on products localisation. Gamel holds an M.A., communications and marketing from EFAP (Ecole Française des Attachés de Presse).
Since opening its UK office in September 2011, Eventbrite has launched localized websites in the United Kingdom (www.eventbrite.co.uk), Ireland (www.eventbrite.ie), France (www.eventbrite.fr), Spain (www.eventbrite.es), Germany (www.eventbrite.de), the Netherlands (www.eventbrite.nl), English-speaking and French-speaking Canada (www.eventbrite.ca), Australia (www.eventbrite.com.au) and New Zealand (www.eventbrite.co.nz).
