Barry McCarthy Joins Eventbrite’s Board Of Directors
Former Netflix CFO Brings Operating and Media Expertise to Fast-Growing Ticketing Start Up
San Francisco, Calif. – May 23, 2011 – Eventbrite announced today that Barry McCarthy, former CFO of Netflix, has joined the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. This announcement follows the completion of a $50 million Series E financing round led by Tiger Global.
“I have admired Barry’s vision and insight since we first met in early 2003, while I was at my previous start up, Xoom,” explains CEO Kevin Hartz. “Given his operating experience managing fast growing consumer Internet businesses, he will be a great addition to our team.”
Barry McCarthy served as Chief Financial Officer of Netflix for nearly 12 years before stepping down in December of last year. During his tenure, Netflix emerged as a consumer Internet leader, growing to $2.2 billion in revenue in 2010. Prior to Netflix, McCarthy held roles at Music Choice, Credit Suisse First Boston and Booz Allen Hamilton. He holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in history from Williams College. Barry serves on the boards of Chegg, Pandora, and Wealthfront.
