La Cocina de Loisaida is a monthly in-person cooking class series presented by The Loisaida Center and Essex Market, where longtime Lower East Sider and home chef Maria Bido shares authentic Puerto Rican recipes and cooking techniques. On Saturday October 8th, La Cocina de Loisaida goes vegan, teaching attendees how to make vegan versions of traditional Puerto Rican dishes like: Tostones Rellenos (Stuffed Plantain Cups), Yaca Guisado (Stewed Jackfruit), Arroz Integral con Habichuelas Rosadas (Brown Rice with Pink Beans), and Dulce de Coco (Coconut Candies).
