Joe Leykam

Born and educated in the Midwest, Oregon has come to be my adopted home for 20 years. My family and community are located in the mid-Willamette Valley of western Oregon and I have worked and grown across the region for most of my professional career.

I have worked as a clinician, educator, supervisor, and problem solver across a very diverse group of communities. Spanning rural, suburban, and urban spaces, I have worked across nearly every aspect of the human services, education, and behavioral health fields. What this has taught me is that all of our work, from the trenches of direct care to the board rooms of large organizations, is about people. Relationships and connections make the difference between success and struggle. Even with a high degree of technical skill, our systems still work to learn that we are human-serving professionals and that means we need to put humans first.

My goal is to put people first in all my pursuits. Whether that is working with families and individuals in the therapy room or helping organizations to strategically plan. I am committed to connecting with people as people and then working with them to grow by writing their own stories. I am dedicated to applying those principles with partners and in the leadership of my own practice.
