IL Science Cncl & Int'l Museum of Surgical Science
The 2023 Chicago Science Festival is a partnership of the Illinois Science Council and the International Museum of Surgical Science.
The Science Fest was started in 2015 by Illinois Science Council (ISC), to bring science & technology to adult audiences in fun and creative ways. You can see information about previous programs here. ISC serves as the science and technology complement to Chicago’s arts and culture sector. We are an independent nonprofit with a mission to bring science to the 85% of the public not served by student-focused science outreach efforts. Students are welcome at ISC year-round programs but the primary audience is adults – those with the most influence on students, and who make all business, healthcare, and voting decisions and thus benefit from an understanding and appreciation of science. We strive to connect people with science and scientists in engaging, memorable ways that highlight the breadth and depth of Chicago’s extraordinary science sector.
The International Museum of Surgical Science (IMSS), founded in 1954, strives to enrich the lives of its visitors by enhancing their understanding and appreciation of medicine and health through its exhibits of historically significant surgical instrumentation, programs, collections of artworks and manuscripts, as well as contemporary art exhibits through its Anatomy in the Gallery program. The Museum’s four floors are filled with extraordinary artifacts that interpret the prehistoric through contemporary healing practices.
