What We Do
The East Harlem/El Barrio Community Land Trust (EHEBCLT) is actively preserving and developing affordable housing in our neighborhood. Our current focus:
1. Building Rehabilitation: We're partnering with NYC's Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) to renovate multiple buildings in various stages of rehabilitation.
2. Community Control: We ensure local residents have a say in housing decisions, promoting community ownership and empowerment.
3. Permanent Affordability: Our model guarantees long-term affordable housing for extremely low to low-income households.
4. Diverse Spaces: Beyond housing, we develop affordable commercial, green, and cultural spaces to enrich our community.
Through these efforts, EHEBCLT is combating gentrification, preventing displacement, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive East Harlem/El Barrio for generations to come.
