Chicago Master Singers
Established in 1979, Chicago Master Singers (CMS) is an auditioned chorus of around 100 volunteer singers dedicated to performing inspirational music and uplifting people throughout the region. CMS has a distinguished repertoire including great choral works and new works by living composers, performing both unaccompanied and in collaboration with professional instrumentalists and soloists. The chorus has international acclaim, having toured extensively throughout Europe for more than 30 years.
Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Dr. John C. Hughes, CMS has developed comprehensive outreach initiatives, including collaborative NextGen clinics and concerts supporting the next generation of composers and young singers, a Choral Scholars program serving high school students at Title I schools, free Summer Sing and online CMS University programs, and community engagement with seniors and youths, including free events at senior communities for audiences with mobility limitations.
