Bren

Hey I'm Bren, an artist, illustrator, and designer from London now living in Hong Kong. I draw comics (some of which have been published) and I teach Figure Drawing Fundamentals weekly at NuDD in To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong. I run Pow Sequential Art, an art studio in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong.

I've been drawing for a long time, and I'm well known on the life drawing circuit in both London and Hong Kong. I'm largely self-taught, although if I'm honest I've been very fortunate to learn a lot from the creative community.

I grew up reading science fiction comics and watching Saturday Morning cartoons, so those are probably my primary influences. I'm very much interested in the craft of drawing as a skill, and I have a strong foundation in fine art. I'm interested in how human perception works and how our observation of the world changes as we slow down and really learn to observe through drawing. For me the ability to create from imagination comes from doing a lot of observational drawing, and the best ideas happen while we're drawing.
