About this event

What If you could be soft and resilient at the same time?

The word “resilience” has been floating around a lot lately. It feels as though it's mention is imbued with a flavor of toughness, like our capacity to survive the hard moments depends on being a wall of impermeable energy, unmoving, unrelenting.

“We must persist."

“We must overcome.”

“We must endure.”

How might our nervous systems respond if we lean into nourishment and tenderness as a means for sustaining hope? Can we harness the power of ease?

At a time when the events around us already sow harshness, rigidity and division, this workshop is your call to exploring resilience through a lens of softness.

It makes sense that we wish to steel ourselves to the dangers of the world, but what if assuring our collective survival meant being called into a soothing, a comforting, the softness of our shared humanity?

What makes you soften like clouds?

What let's you flow like water?

What makes you laugh?

Join Sofiya Ko, a licensed counselor and expressive arts therapist, for a two hour creative writing workshop on the theme of Softness As Resilience.

ALL WRITING LEVELS WELCOME

Whether you want to journal privately or already write about your life publicly, this class will ask you to pay attention to the complexity of your lived experience with a gentle and kind gaze.

We will explore the following themes:

  • How do we caretake ourselves when world events are distressing?
  • Where is the balance between shutting down and having boundaries?
  • What would it look like to resource ourselves with softness and gentleness?
  • Can we collectively anchor our pursuit of resilience in that which is soft?

Join us to explore the narratives that matter in compassionate community.

Please note, this is a writing class and not group therapy.
