Volunteer Training for Lambuary
Overview
This training will include a tour of all the facilities, pastures, and animal locations. We will look for signs of labor, learn how to asist with delivery if needed and how to watch for any signs of stress with pregnant mama sheep and goats as well as babies. There's daily tasks with making sure all the animals have clean water, clean areas and hay. We have 180 acres. The land is not level and pastures are big. Lots of walking! We work out in the weather protecting the newborn babies from the elements and there's a lot to pastures to cover. It's exciting, heart warming and exhausting! We offer a class called, What to expect, When expecting baby goats and lambs. If you want even more in depth training of what to do during labor and delivery.
This training is for able bodied volunteers that want to come on a regular-weekly basis for at least two hours or more each time- not for children. We have the Little Shepherds and Lamb camp for age appropriate activities for the kiddos!
This season is the most popular time of year with all the sweet babies that want snuggles- but we need to do the hard work before the snuggles!
