The DSS Mic Drops are inspirational, interactive, provocative master classes given by expert researchers and practitioners, on topics that relate to design, tech, societal challenges and how we can make the world a better place by integrating technology more wisely and humanely.

"A.I. can't explain itself. Will Designers Help?"

Technology is held to the highest standard. As users we demand technology to be precise, deterministic and transparent. But AI is a different type of technology, and holding AI to the highest standard may be the biggest limitation to its success. AI could help cure hunger, make us healthier, happier and more creative. However, machines won't be able to explain their rationale. Should they? and will designers be able to help?
