The presentation is intended to prepare practitioners to function in alignment with ethical practice expectations, such as confidentiality, competency, multiple relationships, and informed consent. It examines the distinctive ethical challenges that may arise when providing psychotherapy to emerging adults (ages 18-25).

This training presents the unique developmental aspects of this life stage and their intersection with ethical practices. Participants will examine case studies illustrating potential ethical dilemmas, learn practical frameworks for ethical decision-making, and develop enhanced skills for navigating the complexities of therapeutic practice with emerging adults. Key ethical considerations related to autonomy, confidentiality, boundary management, technology, and clinical risk are reviewed in depth.

This training reviews the laws, rules, and regulations for ethical practice in New York State (https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/psychology/laws-rules-regulations), with emphasis on their application to the emerging adult population.
