Meet Yuma Antoine Decaux
Prior to losing his sight, Yuma Antoine Decaux worked in pro-3D and managed a team of 18 artists. Now, he is the co-founder of OSeyeris, a startup that creates technology that is useful to the sighted but also accessible to the blind and visually impaired.
A software architect and mathematician, Yuma was inspired to create OSeyeris’ first product when he was renovating his home and didn’t have a way to take measurements independently. So Yuma and his teammates built the Macaron, a bluetooth-enabled, digital tape measure that combines robotics and user experience to allow people with vision impairments to measure accurately.
After receiving seed funding and the international James Dyson award for their work, Yuma and his team are now creating a stargazing app for the visually impaired. Through the app, Astreos, users can point their devices towards the sky and identify stars, planets, and constellations through sounds and tactile responses.
