About the Workshop
Join us for a gentle, immersive one-day introduction to Sylvotherapy, also known as Forest Therapy or “Shinrin-Yoku”. Whether you're completely new to the concept or simply curious to deepen your connection with nature, this workshop is a nurturing space to learn, explore, and practice.

In the morning, we’ll meet in a calm, spacious classroom at Howsham Mill, where we’ll cover:

  • The history and origins of Shinrin-Yoku
  • The science behind forest therapy — including the role of phytoncides, immune and mental health benefits
  • A gentle introduction to colour therapy and how the hues of nature support wellbeing
  • Aromatherapy basics — how forest aromas can ground and restore
  • Foraging knowledge to support a forest tea ceremony

In the afternoon, you’ll move into the woods for a hands-on sylvotherapy session, where we’ll:

  • Explore experiential ideas for creative forest therapy
  • Practice group and individual exercises drawn from Alma Oasis’s accredited training
  • Learn how to hold your own guided session, exercises, structure, and flow

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with:

  • A deeper understanding of what forest therapy really is
  • Practical tools and confidence to guide a simple sylvotherapy walk
  • A taste of Alma Oasis’s accredited training (if you choose to go deeper)
  • A forest tea experience to anchor the day
