Grow Your Own Waterwise & Native Pollinator Plants! Propagation Workshop
Overview
Join us in the Demonstration Garden for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to propagate favorite waterwise California native plants from cuttings.
Discover how to properly collect, prepare, and grow easy-to-propagate species that support both your garden and local ecosystems, without breaking the bank and using minimal supplies!
In this workshop, we’ll cover:
When to collect plant material for successful propagation
Proper techniques and tools for cloning your favorite plants
How to propagate a variety of native and waterwise species
When to grow from seed vs. when to take cuttings
Hands-on propagation practice you’ll take home with you
Each participant will collect cuttings directly from our garden, prepare them during the workshop, and bring home their future plants. You’ll also gain experience with different propagation methods, including cuttings and divisions.
Please Note: Portions of this workshop will take place outdoors in full sun. Please bring a hat, water, and sun protection.
Propagation is an essential skill for any gardener looking to expand their native plant collection and support local pollinators. Learning the right timing, techniques, and aftercare can make all the difference in your long-term success.
After the workshop, you’re invited to stay for a special raffle featuring some of our favorite waterwise and California native plants, plus expert tips on their ideal garden uses. Our Waterwise Community Nursery will also be open before and after the workshop, selling our favorite easy-to-grow California native and waterwise plant choices - waterwisecommunitynursery.org
