The Deconstructing Wellness Series
A safe, collaborative, enriching space to discuss the intersection of justice and wellness in a mutually respectful way, moderated by people who are able to speak to and hold space for their nuances, in seeking to answer the question: how can we build more justice into our wellness practices and journeys? A space where there are no silly questions, only curious, courageous conversations.
Spring 2021: Finding Flow: Exploring Gender, Embodying Inclusivity
In this workshop with Tristan Katz, we’ll explore awareness around LGBTQ+ identity and language as a vital component for creating safer spaces, why our individual and collective healing is tied to breaking down cis-hetero norms, and how yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, and space-holders can practice inclusivity and allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. This session will include a discussion about gender identity and terminology, pronoun considerations and what to do when you mess up, and more. We’ll begin with a grounding meditation and then move into community conversation, co-creating a learning environment and container where we can unpack privilege, power, oppression, and what’s needed from each of us to achieve individual and collective liberation.
Early Bird rate available until end of March, then will go up! All proceeds go directly to compensating our facilitators.
About Tristan Katz
Tristan Katz (they/them) is a digital strategist specializing in business and marketing coaching-consulting, web and graphic design. They serve a wide range of clients in the wellness industry, including yoga teachers, healing arts practitioners, and other prominent change-makers. As an equity-inclusion facilitator, Tristan offers workshops and trainings centered around queer identity and LGBTQ+ awareness with an anti-oppression and intersectional lens. Through their podcast, articles, and digital workbooks, Tristan supports those who seek to grow their work while staying aligned with the practices of yoga, equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
