Ready to Dance Cumbia? Join Our 101 Crash Course for Absolute Beginners in Houston!
Got a Quinceañera, wedding, or party coming up and need to learn Cumbia—fast? This crash course is the perfect way to get you dance-floor ready in just a few hours!
Designed for total beginners, this fun and easy class will teach you the basic footwork and turns of Cumbia. No experience? No problem! Our instructors will guide you step-by-step to help you feel confident and comfortable moving to the music.
Singles and couples welcome. No partner? We’ll rotate so everyone gets to practice. Coming with someone? You’re welcome to stick together!

COURSE SCHEDULE
7:00-7:15pm: Check-in / Intro and foundations of Cumbia Dancing.
8pm: Beginner Cumbia figures, turns, and footwork.
9pm: Social combinations and review.
10pm: Social dancing and outing.
SYLLABUS
Level 101 – Cumbia Foundations (Perfect for Absolute Beginners)
Start from the very beginning! In this session, you’ll learn the basic steps and essential moves of Cumbia, including:
- Forward & backward steps
- Traveling patterns around the room
- Side turns, in & out turns, alternating turns
- Basic principles of timing, leading, and following
- Intro to body movement
- Easy social dance figures and combinations (Part 1)
This class is ideal for brand new students or anyone who wants to refresh their foundation.
