About this Event

Join MacArthur Fellow and author of The City We Became N. K. Jemisin for a night of writing, discussion, and imagination with Greenlight Bookstore. N. K. will be sharing behind-the-scenes creative insights from her writing process and how science fiction and fantasy can open new worlds. N. K. will be joined in discussion by the next generation of writers from New York City’s Octavia Project.

This event is free with a suggested donation of $10. This donation will also enter you into our raffle for a chance to win prizes like an Octavia Project tote bag, t-shirt, and much more. Your donation will go directly to support the Octavia Project’s free summer programming for NYC teens. For every $10 you donate, you’ll be entered into a prize raffle.

This event will include live ASL interpretation.

About the author

N(ora). K. Jemisin is a New York Times-bestselling author of speculative fiction short stories and novels, who lives and writes in Brooklyn, NY. In 2018, she became the first author to win three Best Novel Hugos in a row for her Broken Earth trilogy. She has also won a Nebula Award, two Locus Awards, and a number of other honors. In 2020, N. K. published her latest novel The City We Became and was awarded a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant.
