Congo Basin : Indigenous Peoples’ and Local Communities’ Vision 2030
Como funciona
This side event at COP30 will spotlight Indigenous Peoples’ and local communities’ vision for a Congo Basin where rights are recognized, livelihoods are supported, and community-led conservation is front and center. Itmarks an important milestone for REPALEAC, a key RRI partner in Central Africa and the Congo Basin, as it will present its 2026–2030 strategy.
During this event, REPALEAC will not only present its 2026–2030 strategy, but participants will discuss how we can support Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the Congo Basin to secure their tenure rights, participate in decision-making processes, and improve access to climate finance, all while rooted in dignity, justice, and self-determination. We will discuss the implementation of the Brazzaville Declaration and the importance of investing in livelihoods and community enterprises as the path for reducing deforestation and conserving nature. This event will also feature the uniqueness of the partnership between REPALEAC and RRI/CLARIFI, showcasing achievements and lessons learned.
