Appropriate Professional Boundaries In Clinical Practice

By Hudson Valley Professional Development
Online event

Overview

This training provides a framework for navigating professional boundaries issues which may arise in clinical practice.

Mental health practitioners are responsible for maintaining professional boundaries and relationships in clinical practice. While some boundary violations may be easy to identify, this training is designed to explore the nuanced boundary questions clinicians face across their professional career. Participants will be invited to examine the diverse, contextual factors related to self, their clients, and treatment that impact the management of boundaries in clinical practice.

This training will guide attendees through both “person-of-the-therapist” and ethical- decision making frameworks to be applied to a range of professional boundary questions. Participants will be provided practical strategies for both the prevention and remediation of boundary issues, helping clinicians increase awareness of potential vulnerabilities and methods for intentionality.

Finally, attendees will be provided an opportunity to review their own clinical practice to apply the material toward practical, management efforts.
