Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud solution that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered pay-as-you-go basis.

AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon. The technology allows users to provision servers, manage users, write code without the worry of infrastructure and much more.

Galvanize alumnus Austin Loveless is excited to introduce you to the world of AWS!

What you will learn:

Terraform allows you to use Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage any cloud, infrastructure, or service.

Pulumi allows you to use real programming languages. Define infrastructure in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, or any .NET language, including C#, F#, and VB. For any cloud provider.

Come learn some of the hottest tools for writing reusable/scalable infrastructure for any cloud provider.

We will walk through building resources on AWS with Terraform and Pulumi. Comparing the differences between the two and why you might want to use one over the other.

About Our Presenter:

Kevin Tinn resides in Denver. With over a decade in the IT industry, he has worked with companies of all scale. From installing network cabling in small dental offices to developing massively parallel data streaming platforms for the Fortune 500, Kevin has provided a full spectrum of IT Solutions. Kevin currently works at World Wide Technology as a Practice Lead in the Multicloud Application Architecture team. In this role, provides cloud consulting services, with a focus on AWS and Azure. Prior to joining the WWT Multicloud team, Kevin led agile software development teams in WWT’s Asynchrony Labs, utilizing a variety of languages and technologies such as C#, Scala, JavaScript, Kafka, SQL, Neo4j, etc.

Alumni Led Learning is a workshop series for anyone interested in diving into topics related to software engineering. Led by Galvanize's Software Engineering program alumni, designers, and passionate life long learners, these hands-on sessions will cover such diverse topics as cloud computing services, various programming languages, and emergent technologies.
