Event description

Interviews Workshop (4 sessions, 2.5 hours every week, held online) NO CLASS February 24th

What makes for a compelling interview? The personality, but also the conversation that arises and the rapport between interviewer and interviewee. In this workshop participants will review interviews with artists of varying lengths from a range of periodicals as well as listen to/watch interview snippets via podcasts/videos. Participants will take note of what makes them want want to keep listening, how best to follow up questions, and how to prep for an interview. Participants will also conduct their own interviews (at least 2 one with classmates and another with someone else be it for a an interview that may be journalistic, research based, or for a written outlet) and we’ll discuss the strengths of each piece. This class will be focused more on what elevates an interview rather than editing for what doesn’t.

As much of this work is dependent on working together one person’s absence or lack of enthusiasm can hinder someone else’s progress. A 10-15 minute break will happen midway.

Refunds: No refunds will be provided after the 1st session should participants drop out. A partial 75% refund (minus EventBrite fees) will be provided should someone need to drop out 1 week prior to the 1st session. A deposit of $100 is required to hold your spot. Only 12 spots will be available.
