This afternoon teach-in on Ballroom scene basics with Michael Roberson, Jacquelyn Batten, and Reginal Juste, weaves together education, gender liberation, intergenerational collaboration, vogue and ballroom. Join us for the afternoon refresher and enjoy a temporary installation of works from the Museums collection, and by Felix Rodriguez, filmmaker and dedicated archivist of the LGBTQ Ballroom community.

Following the community workshop, join us for an unforgettable afterparty and the Sonic Womb Mini-Ball at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art with our MC Precious, DJ #BelindZz, and a legendary panel of judges bringing undeniable presence to the floor, including Michael Roberson, Jason Rodriguez, Luz Theodyssey, Courtney "Balenciaga" Washington, and Divo Ebony!

Accessibility

Located at 26 Wooster Street, the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art strives to provide a welcoming environment to all visitors. Five external steps lead to our entrance doors: a wheelchair lift is available. All galleries are wheelchair-accessible, and a single-occupancy accessible restroom is located behind the visitor services desk: all restrooms are gender-neutral. Large print didactics are available. This activation is presented as part of Continuum: Uniting Queer Artists Across Time, a partnership program between The American LGBTQ+ Museum and the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art, and in celebration of the closing of Project for Empty Space’s two-part exhibition Sonic Womb: Leaving Gender on the Dance Floor, curated by PES’s Feminist FUTURES Fellow Alyssa Alexander. Continuum serves as a bridge connecting historical LGBTQ+ artists with contemporary ones through exhibitions, talks, and performances, highlighting the enduring legacy of LGBTQ+ artists and fostering dialogue across generations.
