Chef Juan Pablo Chavez promotes the benefits of a healthy eating lifestyle and offers a series of hands-on, small group, mostly vegan and plant-based cooking classes at his Mexican hacienda-style brownstone in New York City’s Upper Manhattan. In warmer weather, demos and classes are held in the private tiled garden with outdoor fireplace! Whether you want to improve your knife skills, interested in cooking a traditional but healthy Mexican mole, or hoping to satisfy a sweet tooth with a healthy dessert, there’s a class for everyone. Classes are 2 hours each, maximum 5 people, $60 per person, including food and tasting. Only 20 minutes from midtown on A-express train.

From the West Village kitchen of America’s favorite entertainment couple to the Upper East townhome of a hedge fund socialite, and from the four-star dining rooms of Per Se and Le Bernardin to the aisles of Whole Foods Market, Chef Juan Pablo Chavez has learned one simple message: you don’t have to be wealthy to eat healthy! That’s the program Chef Juan Pablo has been teaching as the Wellness Chef for Whole Foods Market, as well as in the private kitchens of some of New York’s most celebrated families.  Now Chef Juan Pablo brings that same recipe for health to a cross-section of New York City individuals and families in an easy, accessible, fun way that changes lives. It did his!

He developed his love of fine food while helping his grandmother in the kitchen of their Mexico City home.  Then after years as an economist with a Masters from the London School of Economics, he followed his passion for cooking and graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.  He trained at acclaimed four-star New York restaurants Per Se and Le Bernardin, and then joined Whole Foods Markets as a chef.  In addition to teaching in the Wellness Club, Chef Juan Pablo served as the company’s spokesperson at high-profile events at the New York Botanical Gardens and Taste of the Upper West Side.  He has also appeared on several national news programs demonstrating healthy cooking.

In addition to his personal services, Chef Juan Pablo also teaches healthy cooking techniques one-on-one and in small groups, and provides coaching to individuals ready to take the steps necessary to lead a healthy life.  He has developed recipes for individuals with special dietary needs, and served as a recipe consultant and spokesperson for a wide variety of companies.

Chef Juan Pablo has a love of great food–made out of a few simple ingredients.  He is partial to his native Mexican regional food, yet adores world wide ethnic cuisines and their versatility towards a healthy plant-based lifestyle.  He has an extensive culinary knowledge and has traveled widely to many heralded gastronomic regions including Europe (England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Austria), Asia/Pacific (Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand), and of course Latin America (Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina and the Caribbean) among other places.
