Set your refund policy

Your refund policy determines when attendees can submit a refund request in their Eventbrite account. You can issue refunds at any time, even if an attendee didn’t submit a request or the request falls outside of your policy. To set your refund policy:

1. Create your event.

2. Build your event page.

3. Add your tickets.

You can only set a refund policy after creating a paid ticket type.

4. Go to Publish.

Under Set your refund policy, you can choose:

  • Allow refunds (default): If you choose to allow refunds, you can enter the number of days attendees can request a refund before your event starts.

  • Don’t allow refunds: Attendees can’t request a refund. However, if your event is cancelled, you’re required to issue refunds.

Once you’ve set your policy and published your event, you can only change the policy to a more flexible one.

5. Set up automatic refunds (Eventbrite Payment Processing only).

If a refund request meets the requirements of your refund policy, and you have enough funds in your event balance, refund requests are automatically approved. To set up automatic refunds:

  • Select Yes, automate refunds.

  • Choose who will cover the ticketing fee. Select Yes, I’ll pay the fees for the attendee to receive a full refund, or leave the box unchecked if you want the attendee to pay the ticketing fee.

If a refund request doesn't qualify for an automated refund, you’ll need to refund it manually.

Manage your refund policy

1. Go to your Event dashboard.

Log in to your Eventbrite account and go to Events . Then select your event.

2. Go to “Refund Policy” (under “Payments & Tax”).

3. Review your refund policy.

To change to a more restrictive policy, you’ll need to refund any orders and unpublish the event. Once the event is unpublished, you can choose any refund policy.

5.  Select “Save."
